It’s a bummer to see the B29 strEATery listed for sale on Craigslist. Such yummy mobile delights this truck offered! After Lamm left as the truck’s head chef and management, it wasn’t seen rolling the streets quite as often. In remembrance, here is the Poor Foodies post I wrote when I got to tour the truck pre-launch: B29 strEATery Open House!
Has Boise’s food truck heyday reached its twilight? I hope not.

Poor Foodies find of the week: Elisabeta European Market in Nampa Idaho.

I’d known this place existed for some time now, but never seemed to make it when it was open. Fortunately, some coworkers and I had were lucky enough to have lunch at Brick 29 Bistro on Friday (getting us out of downtown Boise and in to downtown Nampa). Elisabeta’s is in the restored Old Masonic Building with Brick 29 (which is Nampa’s best restaurant, and really worth the drive).

We spied Elisabeta’s the deli case on our way in to Brick 29, knowing then where our dessert would be coming from. After lunch, we stopped by the small bakery/deli where Elisabeta and her son were working. They were both very friendly, and filled us full of samples of nearly every sweet confection on display. We ordered several varieties of deserts to take to Jess Flynn’s work party later that evening (You can read Jess’ foodie excursions here:idahofoodies.com).

After trying MANY of the desserts, which were all delicious, I’ve decided my favorites were the Tiramisu, Baklava, Dobos, and the Feta Cheese Pastry. I’ll definitely be back for more, especially if I ever need a whole cake, pastries or catering for an event. Elisabeta was very generous, and even offered us a few free slices of cake for already purchasing so much! I look forward to enjoying a full lunch there soon.

Bought all local groceries today at Karcher Ranch Market in Nampa Idaho - everything from milk, produce, cheese, salt water taffy meat and honey! I’ve driven past this roadside market MANY times but never stopped. So glad I finally did!

This little shop has a great selection of locally farmed and produced goods, fun bottled beverages from ALL over the globe, and soooo much Gluten-free stuff a person suffering from Celiac disease would cry tears of joy. There were also some nice antique kitchen pieces in the back!

Next time you find yourself roaming the rustic streets of Nampa, be sure to stop by Karcher Ranch Market!

    B29 strEATery Open House!

I felt so lucky to be among the invitees for this open house and tour of new food truck, B29 strEATery: a new venture from Dustan Bristol (Bristol Bacon anyone? YUM!!) and Greg Lamm of the award winning Brick 29 Bistro in wonderful Downtown Nampa.

The truck is large and in charge! A gourmet kitchen on wheels, with enough room for several people to cook, and work with customers on the street. I enjoyed samples of a delicious pear salad; BLAT: Bristol Bacon, butter-lettuce, avocado, and tomato on Cafe de Paris bread; a KILLER corned-beef sandwich on rye; and a white chocolate bread pudding (which was good, but sorry guys, Salt Tears has you beat on the bread pudding).

I can’t wait to try B29 strEATery in the field, and hope that I get to very soon, and many times! With menu items like:

—> “Grilled Cheese” BBQ Pulled Pork, Garlic Aioli, Monterey Jack

—> Snake River Farms Kobe Patty Melt with caramelized onions, jalapeno aioli, and choice of blue cheese, swiss or cheddar cheese

—> Tempura Vegetables with Agedashi Tofu, Umami Broth and Yakisoba Noodles

—> And Desserts: Doughnuts with Dipping Sauce or Gingersnap and Caramel Ice Cream Sandwich

…they won’t be able to keep me away! Main courses run $6 - 8, with sides and desserts about $4.

Sounds like they’ll be making regular stops at Meridian Urban Market on Thursday evenings, and East End Market in Bown Crossing on Sunday afternoons. Follow them via the following interweb tracking links, for the latest information!
